They know how to legally cheat you. Then they want to break it down and show you how it works. (So it all looks legal) even if it's not. They have contracts with the Barnes and Nobles and Amazon and other companies to make money off your book. They say you have...

What does it mean if they did mine cheap and even turned down money for correcting the galley? What do you make of it, seriously?

Author house rip off authors | Authorhouse review from Bloomington, Indiana

I paid them $2300. to self publish a book and I find out that I'm getting little in royalties from my own book. I could understnad if they published that wihtout money from me. But I gave them ALOT for nothing in return. They said I approved only getting less than 2.00 a book, they also said I approved 22.00 onAmazon and Barnes and NOble. but when I got the price sheet. I was told 13.00 for my hard cover book, and 8 for my soft cover. I would have never approved such a thing. I was scammed! They hope I come back and have a second book published. Oh the bonuses I will get they say. Places like Amazon.com,and barnes and Noble are profiting big off the book I paid so much to get published. They have quite a raquet going and probably will never get caught. I heard that they are cheating the IRS too, They know how to write things and do things that looks legal and up front. I hope they fall.

Have you ever noticed the overwhelming number of Authorhouse web sites? There's a reason why this company advertises so heavily. They believe in the age old proverb that the loudest voice is always the one that is heard and believed. By bombarding Internet users...

I feel the same as you do in your letter. My book is called a possible ailment vs a defiance of the judicial system.

Your comments are the best that I have seen so far in explaining your painfull experiences with Author House. I am sorry that I am not able to help. I feel just as lost as you do.

Every thing has a begining and every thing has an ending. that is a fact!

Authorhouse

I have only one statement concerning Authorhouse or any other print on demand publishing house. First, what's the total population of people living in the United States and in the United Kingdom? What are the chances that not one individual in that combined population will not purchase at least one of any product, whether good or bad. Once it's been offered for sale on the internet or in stores? I've purchased products, books included, and once I got them home. I realized how bad they were. But the fact is, that I did purchase the product. If you listen to Authorhouse. Thousands of books published by new authors have not sold even one copy. I ask you, does this sound fishy or what??? I guess we all should know by now. Why they're doing so well.

Author House is a SCAM Online Publisher | Authorhouse review from Buffalo, New York

Author House is a online scam publisher. They pray on authors who don't know how to get a ISBN or Catalog number for their books. If you go the website that sells ISBN numbers Author house is listed as one the companies that never gives credit to the author but makes them self owner of the literary work because the person used their poor services. Author house is not responsible for theft of your work or it being sold without you receiving payments under Author House. To end, I am a seasoned writer and don't use Author House.

All Author Solutions companies are scams. Author House is an Author Solutions company They are before the courts getting sued in New York.

Not sure that will make a dent in such a big multinational scam company though.

It's like organized crime and has Mafia links. They use the books to lauder money for the Mafia.

I urge all those who have had any unfavorable dealings with Author-house, to send letters detailing your problem to state and federal consumer fraud agencies. If enough people complain, like the squeeky wheel that always gets the grease, they will investigate the...

Well, I don't know exactly what is going on with those who are complaining, because no specifics of the exact problem have been given. I was shocked to learn that the IsBN whatever number belongs to them and not to me, but, again, I haven't thoroughly checked this out.

I withdrew from a paid deal in Los Angeles and a lot of my money was kept as a fee of some sort, but I guess it's a risk I took. I don't know if these publisherf "scam" or not, because the publishing business is as ruthless as any other, and Author beware stands as true as the phrase, Buyer beware. Maybe we do it to ourselves because we're poor and hope our book is a huge success. But unless a writer compromises on the values of integrity, etc., and writes 5 pages of sex and filth, 2 pages of plot, 10 pages of sex and filthy immoratlity.......you get the picture:-- A pay-to-you publisher won't touch your book.

I'm reserving judgement until I have all the facts. Yes, my first book of my series was published in 2003, and I got diddley-squat for it. All those who've read my series loved it.

So there you are. Norma A.Vincent

Two years ago I submitted a manuscript to Authorhouse for publication. They cheerfully took my money, but to date have yet to publish. There has been continual delay, massive Authorhouse errors inserted into the document, no serious attempt by them to correct anything,...

I made the mistaake of having them publicize in 2012 a book they printed for me in 2001. I've spent an embarrassing amount with no results other than the proof copy on one News Release.

I don't know if it was ever sent out. I'm now attempting to cancel my contracts.
