BEWARE using Authorhouse for publishing and printing. My mom (now 92) created a book with lots of illustrations provided by a local artist friend.
We placed several orders over the years totaling more than 1,000 books. In April of this year (2019) we place a new order for additional books.
When the books arrived, we noticed the colors looked washed out compared to all the previous orders.
When we questioned this inferior printing, we were told that Authorhouse had switched printers (the previous had gone out of business) and they said that some variances in the printing can occur.
The problem is we were never informed pre order the printer had changed and therefore there could variances in the colors. Had we been informed we would have requested a new single copy for approval or not risked an order. ALL previous printings were consistent in their color and were the colors and look we APPROVED for this book.
We would have NEVER approved this current color combo for our book and would have changed prior to certifying for our orders and any public orders. This current version is NOT what we believed we were ordering.
So my mom spent a lot of her limited funds on unacceptable printing of a book she was so proud of.
We appealed this issue twice. Denied twice.
Authorhouse stated they agreed there was a variation in the printing but it was in their opinion within the acceptable variance. They would not refund anything.
Needless to say, we will not be ordering anymore books from them or recommending them to friends and family.
